Frequently Asked Questions

How does Gifted Givers work?

If you are a Brandeis student, alumnus, faculty member or staff, you can receive one FREE gift of your choice.

How do I choose my gift?

There are two ways to choose a gift: online or in-person.

1. If you are a Brandeis student, alumnus, faculty or staff member, you can choose a gift from this online catalog. Keep checking back! New gifts will be added in batches from April 20-May 1.

2. If you are a current student, faculty or staff member with a green COVID passport, come choose your free gift in person! Browse a selection of unique gifts on campus during Festival week. You can find us at the Brandeis Booths in Fellows Garden on Wednesday, April 28 between noon - 5 pm and Friday, April 30 between 5 - 8 pm.

Students, faculty and staff coming to campus should comply with all measures required within the Campus Passport, including testing and taking the Daily Health Assessment. For complete information, visit the COVID-19 Response website.

How do I receive my gift?

We want to see you! If you comply with above COVID safety measures, select "pick up" when you check out. You can come pick up your gift at the Brandeis Booths in Fellows Garden on Wednesday, April 28 between noon - 5 pm and Friday, April 30 between 5 - 8 pm.

If you can't come to campus, we will ship it to you anywhere in the US at no charge. Select "ship it" when you check out. Please note that you have to enter your address, whether you want to pick up your gift or ship it.

If the gift you claimed is a virtual meeting or a personalized gift, you will be connected with the giver over email. For digital downloads, you will receive a download link over email.

When will I receive my gift?

If you need your gift to be mailed, it will be shipped in early May. If you are receiving a personalized gift, we will connect you with the maker in early May and you will receive the gift a few weeks later. There are a few virtual performances and meetings which may redeemed at a mutually convenient time sometime in 2021.

What if I'm not in the US?

In the online catalog, try filtering by the category "Available to international recipients" to find a gift for you. There are digital download and virtual meeting gifts that are available to both US and international recipients.

What's the catch?

No catch! Each person is entitled to one free gift per person. This program is available to Brandeis students, faculty, staff and alumni only, until supplies last.

Why are you doing this?

Supporting the creation of new work is a key part of the Festival of the Arts. Every year, we give grants to members of the Brandeis community to produce new works of performing and visual art. This year, we are pleased to foster a spirit of generosity and community through giving and receiving.

“As Leonard Bernstein said, among the components of happiness are ‘the enjoyment of gifts and the joy of gratitude,’ ” says festival producer Ingrid Schorr, director of Arts Engagement. “We hope that this year’s Festival of the Arts will bring that happiness to campus and provide some much-needed community care.”

How is this funded?

The Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts is made possible by the generous support of Elaine Reuben ’63 and the Aaron Foundation Visiting Artist Fund for Theater, Music, and Fine Arts.
